Two experts talked to students who currently work for Penn State’s Daily Collegian newspaper about their career paths in marketing and branding and how their experience on The Daily Collegian proved valuable in their professional lives.
Featured in the roundtable video meeting were Kelly Ruoff, chief branding officer for Root Insurance, and Elizabeth Johnson, owner of Glee Content Marketing, a consulting business specializing in content marketing and social media.
The roundtable was moderated by Abigail Schucker, The Collegian’s director of marketing.
Both Ruoff and Johnson worked for The Collegian while studying at Penn State. Ruoff, a journalism major, was a beat reporter, worked on the night desk, and served as one of the paper’s first digital editors. Johnson, an advertising and public relations major, worked in The Collegian’s marketing department mostly, ultimately as its manager.
The event was one in a series sponsored by the Daily Collegian Alumni Interest Group (AIG).
